Judging by the muff count on the Underground this morning, I am going to make a very bold fashion (verbal) statement:

Ear muffs are this years ponchos.

I've even come up with a strapline that shops are free to use in their marketing:
Ear muffs. Make you look stupid. Worn by wankers.
